Andy Milton:

On behalf of the Worcester Troop committee I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year .

As most of you are aware the Regiment has now been awarded the freedom of Worcester and on Saturday June 27th (Dettingen Day/ Armed Forces) will be parading through Worcester City Centre.

The QRH OCA will also be invited to march and afterwards there will be a post parade function on the Worcester Race Course, although there will be no horse racing,  there will be Military displays and bands playing .

Worcester Troop will then be having the annual reunion at Worcester university function room. It is planned to have a hog roast and entertainment. Costs for both these functions will be confirmed later in January once we have more information about the parade.

In the meantime I have reserved some Worcester University Campus accommodation. The cost for a single en suite room is £36 with breakfast.

These can be booked by e mail to   conferencing@worc.ac.uk   or telephone 01905 542121 mentioning The QRH  Veterans reunion .

We look forward to seeing you there.

Dale McKenzie:  Hi Guys, I currently own 02 FD 39 and was wondering if any of you guys have any memories of this vehicle. I have checked the history with RAC  Bovington and it was with QOH/QRH pre 2002, after which it went to Queens own Yeomanry (York). Be keen to chat with anyone from Recce Troop who served on this one. It was Originally Scorpion, then Scimitar now Sabre.

WATERLOO 2015

Next year will be the bicentenary of the Waterloo campaign in which the 7th Queen's Own Hussars played a significant part and Major Nicholas Haines is arranging a battlefield tour to the area to commemorate the Regiment's deeds at Waterloo, itself, and the battles that led up to it. He will also try to offer some alternative activities for those like Wives-And-Girlfriends, for example, who may be more interested in the attractions offered by staying in Brussels.

The plan is for a coach and ferry tour with 3-star accommodation (Park Inn Hotel by Radisson – right by the Gare du Midi) on a B&B basis so folk can do their own thing for lunch and dinner (eating out in Brussels is something even the French rave about). The outline programme would be:

13 Apr 15 - Meet at the Union Jack Club by Waterloo Station and drive out to Brussels.

14 Apr 15 - Study Quatre Bras & Ligny.

15 Apr 15 - Study Genappe  (7H skirmish) & Wavre.

16 Apr 15 - Study Waterloo, the Battlefield, including as much as possible of what the Battlefield Company has to offer.

17 Apr 15 - Morning in Brussels and return to London at about 1500.

This should give plenty of time to explore and enjoy Brussels and he’ll try and work up some touring suggestions for those who don’t want to do the battlefields so there’ll be absolute flexibility.

The price he’s got so far (assuming we get at least 20 entries) is £799 per person based on two sharing a twin/double room (no news on single supplements yet). This is not set in stone yet but he thinks it’ll be a pretty good guide.

Please let him  know if you are interested in joining this tour and, if you are, he'll be asking you for a deposit by the end of March.
